Description

Yes--real car! We found this in a garage a few months back. Too much space for the story here, but we believe it had not been started since about 2015. Some fresh oil, tank drain, battery and fuel additive--and she started on the first twist. My paint meter shows the paint to be original, and it looks it. Interior is also in excellent shape as well. Did I mention--it is a MANUAL! Yes, a rare US version 4 SPEED. It is the most basic Mercedes you could buy in America in 1982, with no sunroof, roll up windows, not even a passenger mirror. It has the correct Becker Europa Radio that works properly, a new Hirschman antenna ($400!), and not a crack in the dash. Seats have had sheepskins on them since new, I believe (we removed them, and put them in a box), and they look it. We've had any dings removed, professionally airbrush touched up, and still detailing 38 years worth of dirt....I added the factory alloy wheels and just had them powdercoated, and put on a new set of Michelins (about 100 miles on them). Untouched First Aid kit, Original Michelin X spare never down, Jack and tools also. New or recently replaced: belts, fluids, Interstate battery, master and slave cylinders, wiper blades, radiator shell and grill/bars, hood pad, many trim and deco parts just to look pretty, and much more....Also NEW this week, a fresh AC compressor (was leaking some oil), and a new slave cylinder, also had a slow but steady leak. More UPDATES: the cruise control has been fussy, so we installed a new amplifier and a spare actuator we had on hand. Works like a champ now. Driver's door striker just replaced too. UPDATE: New door latch strikers installed, drivers front and rear....want them to make that W123 noise that we love! UPDATE: new headlight doors installed, just a little wear, but wanted them to be just right... UPDATE: Finally making some progress on cleaning under the hood. Not finished, but far better than it was, pictures now up... If you like, call me or email me with your specific questions and I'll give you the most objective and accurate answer possible. There are about 25 good pictures up now, let me know if there is something else you want to see...There are very few 4 speed cars for sale in the marketplace, and if you check the condition and recent service and repair, will find this car to be very reasonably priced. Check the others--garage queens are a fortune, and the really rough ones will cost you a ton of time and money to get right. This one? Start her up and rattle off! Honest, unique collectible that you can still drive and enjoy. What an incredible Time Machine!
